Cultural Knowledge Exam for Permanent Residency
TOPICS:
National Symbols and Holidays: Understanding Hungary’s coat of arms, flag, coronation regalia, national anthem, national song, and national holidays.
Key Events in Hungarian History: Knowledge of Hungary’s foundation, significant historical periods, revolutions, treaties, and regime changes.
Prominent Figures in Literature and Music: Familiarity with notable Hungarian and European literary and musical personalities.
Fundamental Institutions: Awareness of Hungary’s constitution, national assembly, government, and the office of the president.
Citizens’ Rights and Obligations: Understanding civil liberties, civic duties, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
Everyday Life in Europe and Hungary: Insight into daily life, cultural practices, and societal norms in Hungary and Europe.
The exam is conducted in Hungarian, and applicants have 60 minutes to complete it. A minimum of 16 out of 30 points is required to pass. 50% + 1 to pass the exam. The exam paper contains 2 questions from each of the 6 given topics. Applicants are allowed up to three attempts; failing three times results in ineligibility to retake the exam.
